Where Should I Watch The Epic 2024 Solar Eclipse? | Indianapolis Eclipse Events

The total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, has been highlighted in my planner for a few years. The entire state of Indiana will either be in 90 – 100% path of totality. This total solar eclipse is going to be phenomenal. We are so fortunate to live right in the path of totality.

Millions of tourists will flock to our lovely state to take in the views and participate in the events of the day. The cities and towns within that path have been hard at work preparing events for the whole day for your family to enjoy; not just the 3 min 46 seconds that the sun will be completely blocked by the moon, leading to an eerie darkness in the middle of the day.

Indianapolis, along with the rest of the state, is hosting a bevy of weekend-long events, including concerts, films, games, lectures, and other special performances. Check out these fantastic opportunities in the Indy area and beyond.

This list is being updated as new events are announced. If you know of an event that is not on this list, please leave a comment or email katy@indywithkids.com.

This is the last solar eclipse in North America until March 2044 and the only states at that point to see totality will be a few far Northern States and Alaska. Considering the weather in March and the proximity to the majority of the American population, the 2044 eclipse will be a challenge to witness. In Indiana, the next total solar eclipse will be in 2153, truly making the 2024 eclipse a can’t-miss event.

Indiana has the nickname the “Crossroads of America” thanks to the major interstate highways that meet and run through Indianapolis. Expect these roads to be a little busy in the days leading up to April 8, at a standstill on April 8, and congested after the event as our visitors head home. Hoosier hospitality will welcome visitors from near and far for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Where will you witness history on April 8, 2024?
